.From Our Own Correspondent. [ A meeting of representatives from local I bodies, women’s organisations, etc., convened by the Postmaster (Mr A. Semple) was held on Thursday evening. An apology for absence was received from I'trs K. W. Taylor. Tho Mayor (Mr E. Butt) presided and explained that the meeting was called with a view to the formation of a health camp committee in Shannon to further the health stamp campaign which has been launched under the patronage of tho Governor-General, Viscount Galway, and is being conducted by tho honorary organiser, Mr L. O. Hooker in conjunction with and with the approval of tho Health and Post and Telegraph Departments. Correspondence from tho honorary organiser was read and it was decided that the persons present form a committee to bo named “The Shannon Health Camp Committee.” The committeo is composed of tho following persons: Cliairma.ii (Mr E. Butt), Mesdames L. H. Best, C. Easton, S. \V. Barber and K. W. Taylor, Messrs A. Blackwood, L. H. Best, S. W. Barber, W. Pu Harpur, W, Clayton and A. Semple, with power to add. Mr Semple was elected honorary secretary and treasurer. It was explained, by tho secretary that money collected apart from the sales of health stamps was available Immediately to the committeo for tho purpose of sending sickly children to health camps. Amounts Irons the sales locally of health stamps would later bo available for this purpose also, probably after the close of the campaign. It was emphasised in the organiser’s correspondence that all amounts collected or received from tire sales of stamps in the Shannon district were at tho disposal of the local committee for chilrden recommended by the Hospital Board or school medical officers as being in need of treatment at a health camp. It was proposed by Mr Best and seconded by Mr Barber that tho Farmers’ Union and tho Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union be invited t'o give assistance in the canvassing of the countryresidents for donations towards a proposed street stall. Mr Blackwood gave an undertaking to enlist the services of Mangaore residents and Messrs Butt, Clayton, Harpur, together with Mesdames Easton and Taylor were appointed to do what was possible in the borough. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter to other organisations seeking their assistance. Authority was given to open a Savings Bank account and Messrs Butt and Semple were appointed to operato thereon.
