Tokorangi
From Our Own Correspondent. A meeting of householders was held in the school on Tuesday evening last when there was a fair attendance. The main object of the meeting was to discuss arrangements for the forthcoming fancy dress dance. The chairman was Mr E. W. Barnett, who is also chairman of the school committee. The following ladies were appointed a supper committee: Mesdames J. Mills, J. Fergusson, J. Bush and E. W. Barnett. It was decided to scrub out tlio meeting house before tile dance. Some difficulty was being experienced in securing an orchestra but since the meeting was held a professional orchestra has been secured and the dance is to be held on October 11. It was decided that the dance be advertised in tho Press on two occasions, details being left to the head teacher. On Thursday, the school was visited by Mr A. J. Calder, the board’s agriculture Instructor. Mr Calder commented very favourably on the pleasing appearance of the school and surroundings. Hockey. The Tokorangi ladies' hockey team successfully withstood another challenge for the Mako cup. last week when a team of Wanganui natives brought down a team. The final score was two all.
