Last Tributes Paid Late Mrs D. Colls
The interment of the late Mrs D. Collis, of “ Hincmoa, ’' Kairanga, took place on Wednesday afternoon, when there was a funeral’ cortege of about 150 cars. There was a wealth of floral
tributes, very many from local firms. The last, tributo paid to the memory ' of Mrs Collis will long be remembered, and was indicative of the esteem in which she was held, and the widespread regret caused by news of her passing. From the Waikato, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Horowhenua and Wellington districts mourners were present. These included Mrs T. W. Anderson (Hastings), Mr G. W. Shailer (Hawera), Mr G. A. Monk (Beikiorangi), Mr G. Cornford (Pahiatua), Mr G. Marshall (Turakina),- Mr A. Stuart (M.P. for Bangitikei), Mr A. Whiley (Ohau), Mrs Hudson and Mr and Mrs Bolston (Levin), Bev. 11. T. Peat and Mrs Peat (Hamilton), and many others. Prior to the funeral cortege leaving the residence, a brief service was conducted by Bev. H. L. Bichards, of tne Cuba Street Methodist Church, Bev. H. T. Peat (Hamilton) and Bev. A. Ashcroft (Palmerston North). The pall-bearers at the rcsidcnco wore Messrs F. D. Collis, 0. A. Collis, G. Collis, B. Collis (sons), W. McClelland (son-in-law) and John Collis (brother-in-law). At the cemetery the. pallbearers were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P. (representing the Palmerston North Hospital Board), J. Linklatcr, M.P., (representing the district), W. B. Hoperopt (Kairanga County Council), Jos. Batehelar (A. and P. Association), T. 8.. Hodder (Cuba Street Church), and J. Collis.
