STEEPLECHASE WON BY KAHUNOKE BIG DOOIv TAKES .WINTER OATS Fer Press Association. GISBORNE, Last Night. The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s steeplechase meeting opened on the defunct Gisborne Racing Club’s course in dull weather. Despite recent rains the track was but little all’ected and tho going was good. The totalisator handled £3178, as compared with £3132 in 1933,- an increase of, £46, no meeting being held last year.. At' the conclusion- of the Park Hurdles the stewards held an inquiry into the riding of Talioma bv W. Horne. After hearing the evidence ol the owner, trainer and rider, the stewards decided that Horne had not ridden Talioma on its merits and they suspended him for three months. The last race provided .a-mild sensation. Three furlongs from home Biygain was in flic lead from First Dance when the latter fell bringing down Memmon and Royal Mimic. R. Marsh, rider of Memnion, sustained a broken arm and W. J. Broughton on Royal Mimic and S. Anderson on First Dance escaped lightly with a severe shaking.
