Longburn
From Our Own Correspondent, During the week-end two local cricket teams played a match which was won by l.ongburn, tho Deserve road team being defeated by an innings and 43 runs. Owing to the limited time in which to play Ihe match, a number of batsmen for the winning team retired after batting for a short tune. The Methodist Church hold their harvest festival servico on Sunday, the service being taken by the Bcv. H. B. Richards. On Tuesday night a sale of produce was held in the church social room, when there was a'good attendance. The stall holders were Mesdtunes Marshall and Aldersley and Miss It. Birch. During the evening an interesting lantern lecture on India was given by the Ref. H. B. Richards. The Sunbeam Club and Bible class lias now opened. Mrs. Bernsten and her sons, Messrs. A. and N. Berntsen, of Dannevirke, have returned home after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Christensen, Karere. Mr. YVilson, whos.e mother died recently, is visiting Dunedin for the funeral. Mrs. Aldersley has been spending a holiday at YY^ellinglon. Mr. and Mrs. Hopping have been visiting friends in the YVairarapa district. Mr. Zurcher is at present spending a holiday at Frankton Junction. Miss Ivy Beil, of Invercargill, is the guest of Miss Joyce Beil. Miss C. Beil, of Napier, is staying with her parents at YValker’s road. Mr. .1. A. Mitchell has returned home after visiting Timaru. The Bongburn Miniature Ride Club held their opening shoot for the season on Monday night. There was a good attendance of members and some good cards were handed in.
