A Pretty Evening Wedding in Feilding
BRANDT—KEED On Saturday evening, February 23, the wedding (in which much interest was taken by many Feilding and Wellington friends) took place at St. John’s Church of Joyce Mary, second daughter of Mr G. Reed and tho late Mrs Reed, Wellington, and Carl William, elder son of Mr and Mrs H. W. Brandt, Prince street, Feilding. The service was conducted by Archdeacon F, H. Petrio and music suitable to the occasion was played by Mr E. A. Golding.
The bride, who was given away by Mr A. Muller, of Wanganui, was a regal figure wearing a beautifully cut princess robe of parchment lace over satin, with long sleeves fitting tho arms closely and a square train. Her tulle veil was effectively arranged with a pleating at one side of tho head and sho carried a lovely sheaf of cream gladioli, St. Joseph lilies, double gypsophila aud maiden-hair fern. Miss Rose Brandt, twin sister of the bridegroom, was chief bridesmaid, Die two attendants being Miss Kathleen Woolly, of Wellington, their graceful frocks of Marina blue, laco being slightly trained, frilled across the backs of the skirls, and had softlyfalling berthas and sashes in a deeper shado of velvet. Velvet caps, finished with a. bow and drooping ends at the back, were also worn, as well as velvet shoes, long silk mittens and crystal ■earrings, .gifts of the bridegroom. Their shower bouquets were of shaded belladonna lilies, zinnias, carnations, and fern. Mr Douglas Archer, of Wellington, was best man, and Mr Pat Patterson, of Wellington, carried out the duties of groomsman. A reception was afterwards hold at tho home of the bridegroom’s parents. Mr uni Mrs Brandt received their guests in a marquee on tho lawn gaily decorated with blue and white streamers and illuminated by strings of lights in tho two colours. Tho supper tables wore charmingly decorated with asters and hydrangeas. Mrs Braudt’s gown was of black georgette and lace, her black hat had relieving touches of beige, and she carried red pom-pom dahlias, lilies and shaded leaves. Mrs Stanley Smith, of Wellington, sister of the bride, was in a frock of black floral georgette with hat to match, and her posy was carried out with flowers in blue and pink tones. Miss L. McDonald, of Wellington, and Mr and Mrs Noel Penny, of Feilding, assisted in receiving and entertaining those present.
The bride later appeared for travelling, wearing a smart navy swagger suit, navy hat and accessories to match.
Among the many useful and attractive wedding presents received by the happy couple who havo made their home in Wellington was a silver tea service from the Dominion Laboratory staff, of which the bridegroom is a member.
