IN PASSING
All in the Cause of Fashion
Last week many womenfolk had the pleasure of witnessing a mannequin parade at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame’s and gaining an insight into tho new autumn styles for hats, coats, frocks and evening gowns. But seated comfortably enjoying afternoon tea to the strains of sweet music, probably little thought was given by those present to the organisation required for the smooth running of such a display. It is interesting to record that a staff of no less than 10 was engaged in the business of putting .the parade through without a hitch. These comprised the ushers, door attendants, tho ticket sellers, electricians, supervisors, orchestra, dressing room attendants, kitchen staff, waitresses, and last but not least, the mannequins themselves. The Good Secretary. There were three characteristics required for a good secretary, said Canon G, Y. Woodward, speaking at the annual meeting of All Saints’ branch of the Mothers’ Union yesterday, enthusiasm, a keen sense of humour and an over-abundance of tact. Faying tribute to Mrs. Metcalfe, the secretary, Canon Woodward said lie felt sure she was possessed of all these attributes.
