Seismic Calamity In Central Italy

At least twelve persons were killed and over 150 injured by an earthquake in the Central Italy mountain region. The Abruzzi Province suffer - 1 the most severely. Two shocks occurring at 4.36 in the morning lasted thirty seconds. Tho epicentre was in the district extending from Castel di Sangro to Roccaraso. Houses crashed, burying the sleeping occupants. Panic-stricken survivors rushed into the streets, aaid took refuge . in the fields.
Aid for Stricken Centres FIFTEEN NOW REPORTED DEAD ROME, Sept. 26. Tho earthquake death roll is fifteen. Tho effect was worst in the village of Lama do Pclligni whero seven were killed and forty injured. Signor Mussolini rushed food and medical supplies to the stricken centros. Tho peasants declare that gas and flames spurted from the cracks appearing after the shocks.
