The New York Times’ correspondent at Rio do Janeiro says that a prospector on the upper waters of tho Sao Bonto river, iu tho State of Minas Goracs, to-day reported finding a diamond of 540 grams, over 2000 carats. Tho stone ie apprised at 800,000 dollars, and is believed to bo the second largest recorded. Six other large stones, one of 400 carats, were also found. The total value of the lot is a million dollars.
