Kairanga
From Our Own Correspondent. At last week’s meeting of the school committee Mr. C. M. Hyde presided over a full attendance of members. With the exception of fuel required for the school, the firewood Is all disposed of. It has been decided to plant a shelter belt along the south-western boundary of the school ground. Upon the resumption of the school after the term holidays three new pupils were admitted. At the fortnightly euchre tournament conducted by the Anglican Church committee, the prizes were won by Mrs. O. A. Collis and Mr. Claude Burmeister. Other prizes went to Mrs. E. Lawrence and Mr. G. Davey. The euchre tournament next Friday will conclude the series which patrons have enjoyed throughout the winter months. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Mitchell, who resided in Kairanga for about ten years, are now living- in Ashhurst. Kairanga players who have been selected to represent the Manawatu Ping Pong Association in their match with Wellington at Palmerston North are Mrs. J. Pratt, Messrs C. Burmeister and J. Mule, Quito a number of dancers were disappointed at the cancellation of Tuesday night’s radio dance on account of the prohibition of 2ZO’s broadcast after 10 p.m. Mr. Owen Mildon, who was providing and operating his set, had gone to considerable trouble in erecting an aerial and making other preparations.
