SLEEPY HOLLOW WAKES HP THREE YEARS LATE

Agricultural and pastoral circles in the Manawatu are laughing at the announcement from Nelson that a variety of swede known as Horning’s, will resist club root disease to a remarkable degree. The position is that Nelson has awakened to the fttet at least three years late. Hcrning’s swedo seed has been on tho New Zealand market for four years and perhaps longer, and tho value of the variety has been pointed out timo and again during the last threo years per medium of the Agricultural Journal and the daily press farming columns. The Plant Research Station in Palmerston North has distributed an abundance of literature on tho subject of club root and the need to grow such disease-resistant varieties of swedes and in tho courso of experiments has evolved a variety which promises to bo even better than Horning's.
