Mr. W. F. Thomson, whoso death has occurred in Nelson, was a director oi! S. Kirkpatrick and Co. Ltd., for many years, and held the position of factory manager, having been 49 years with the firm.

Six local institutions with which Mr. Donald Morrison has been intimately associated will combine to entertain him at a farewell tea prior to his departure for Wellington, where ho will bo stationed in charge of the State Fire Office’s Wellington branch. Guests at the Hotel Imperial, Palmerston North, include Mr. L. Martin, Auckland; Mr. A. B. Callick, Dunedin; Mr. A. T. Wells, Wellington; Miss M. Bond, Hastings; Mr. Hollis, Masterton; Mr. G. G. Hill, Wellington; Miss Williams, Wellington; Mr. T. Fraser, Wellington; Mr. V. M. Edgar, Wellington.

A Sydney cablo reports the death of Mr William Knox, former chairman and managing director of the Colonial Sugar Helming Company, Limited, after a long illness. Ho was aged 86, and leaves a widow and four daughters. One of the latter is the wife of Mr Colin Stephen, chairman of the Australian Jockey Club.
