Have something that you definitely want to see, and know a great deal about it before you go.” Bo many people, be said, travelled aimlessly and therefore missed the essence of the trip. \ person could find his hobby in any country, and would find that there were people everywhere who would come forward and assist in its pursuit. It had been said, be continued, that all the French, German, and Spanish lcarnod in an elementary way was practically useless when abroad. That was not true. One might not be able to understand what foreigners were saying, bu they could understand what was being said to them, and by that means contact was obtained. There was no definite need to speak languages, for trave - lers could go all over the world with English, but there was every reason whv they should do so. Professor A,eio spoke of the Old Country and wliat ft meant to New Zealanders. He said h 0 did not know who it was that had built up the, reputation that New Zealanders held in England, but m every sphere it was exceptionally good. Man) Now Zealanders, too, held important, positions in London. He advised his hearers if ever they went abroad, to endeavour to go via Suez. IC, ° not much ocean, it was not unduly hot if the right time of the year was chosen and it held places of interest all along the way.
