The AUSTRALIAN STEEPLECHASE resulted:—• ACCELERATION, 9.0 (Howson) 1 ANCIENT MARINER, 9.5 (Winks) 2 GEORGE WILLIAM, 9.6 (Warner) 3 Thirteen started. Acceleration lod nearly the whole distanco and won by four lengths, a neck between second and third. Time, 7.1 J. Only seven finished. Ivcutel fell and

injured his shoulder. . Oliua broke down, while Bangbang and Welcome Stranger fell together. The race was poorly contested, the Held being strung out like Brown’s cows. Tho winner, Acceleration, is owned by a lady in South Australia.
