Rugby Referees' Annual Meeting
Per Press Association. HAMILTON, April 4. In his presidential address at the annual conference of the New Zealand Rugby Referees at Hamilton, reference was made to the British tour by Mr. D. McKenzie, who was of the opinion that, from the referees’ standpoint, the tour was an epoch-making one. The executive had sought from tho inception to secure a uniform interpretation of the laws of the game throughout the Dominion. The tour seemed to put the matter to the test. It seemed that New Zealand would fall into line with the rules of the International Board. The speaker considered that a golden opportunity had been missed in failing to arrange a conference to discuss the rules and their interpretations with Mr. James Baxter, manager of the British team. Such a conference would have brought near the day when the same Rugby was played the world over. Officers were elected as follow: President, Mr. C. Eyre (Dunedin); committee, Messrs. D. McKenzie, G. E. Bradley, G. S. Hylton, J. Moffit, L. M. Sieviers, J. A. Wilson and Calcanai.
