Gift Evening at Oddfellows ' Mall, Feilding
Gay with pink and green streamers and walls bedecked with greenery, the Oddfellows’ Hall looked at its very best, on Thursday when a “gift” evening was given by Airs. A. Hitchens, ot West street, for Miss Jean Alalcolmson and Mr. Walter Knight, whose marriage will take place early in tho New Year. The guests, numbered about SO, including visitors from most of the surrounding districts and pleasant entertainment was found for all either at the card tables or in dancing. Packer's orchestra was in attendance and extras wore played by Miss Doris Wells and Aliss Enid Roaehe. A prize for euchre was awarded to Mrs. White, while the Alonte Carlo waltz was won by Aliss Gladys Watts and Air. Alec Fidler. The daintiest of suppers was sot out on tables lightly and prettily arranged with sweet peas. After supper Air. Jack Kitchen, the efficient M.C., on behalf of those present, asked the guests of the evening to accept the many and varied gifts preferred by their friends, with the best of good wishes for the future. For Aliss Alalcolmson and himself Air. Knight suitably replied. Mrs. Hitchens received in a frock of black embossed crepe do chine and Aliss Alalcolmson wore navy crepe do chine with touches of lemon. Personal. Airs. Blnxall, of Wellington, has been tho guest of Aliss Helen AlcLean, Aorangi, Feilding. Aliss Grace Buchanan, Wellington, is spending the holidays with her parents, Air. and Airs. D. P. Buchanan, “Alayfleld,” Cunninghams.
Miss Kitty Buchanan, ALA., is expected to return home from Launceston, Tasmania, early next week. Miss Jean Spooner, of Wellington, was a recent visitor to Feilding and was the guest of Aliss Patricia Goodbehere, “Northfield,” Kimbolton Road.
