Hungry Men Getting Desperate

URGENT DEMAND FROM DUNEDIN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Dec. 19. The Mayor forwarded the following telegram to the Unemployment Board to-day:— “A deputation of over 300 unemployed waited on mo this morning—the third deputation in two days. Tho position is desperate; something must bo done at once. • It is difficult to restrain hungry men. I urgently suggest that you telegraph, guaranteeing a sustenance grant so that I can pay out £SOO to needy eases to enable them to pay rent and necessities.”
