MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB.

The weekly practice on Monday evening was poorly attended owing to the inclement weather. Some good scores were made indicating that tho standard of shooting was steadily improving. The trophy for the evening was won by RI'aki, who is improving with every practice and bids fair to become one of the medal winners for tho season. Last -week's match against Bulls was postponed and will be tired later in the season. The teams to represent the club in its engagement against Moutoa this week arc:— A team: Scaranekc, Walker, Beard, Larkins, Crowe, Tc Awe Awe, Chapman, Toegood. B team: Paki, Thomson, Robin, Saywell, Bond, Fawcett and Mason. Details of the handicap shoot are:

School Grounds Improvement. Ou Monday afternoon a parly of Wanganui Education board officials Messrs Collins (chairman), _ Swauger (secretary) and Hodge (architect) met the members of the school committee in reference to the school grounds improvement scheme. Messrs Barber am.. Bond, chairman and engineer of the Manawatu County council were also present. Tho committee had made verbal arrangements with the county engineer in reference to the removal or spoil from the school grounds frontage. J.t had acted without the sanction of the board, hence the conference to adjust matters. The chairman of the board expressed himself as pleased with tho work that had been carried cut and was sure that when the exca vating and levelling was finished a very great improvement to the appearancc and usefulness of the grounds would be effected.
