RECOUNT COMPLETED IN COUNCIL ELECTIONS
No Change in Order CR. MILVERTON LEADS MR EDWARDS BY 11 VOTES The official recount for tho Mayoral and Council elections was completed yesterday. The amended figures in the former, show little change, Mr. Graham advancing 13 votes on the figures of the first count, and Mr. Edwards, four. At the first count, the figures were, A. J. Graham 2774, Robt. Edwards S3B, The official figures are:— A. J. Graham 2757 E. Edwards 842 No Change in Council.
The recount of the votes cast in the Council election has made slight alterations in the totals of all councillors with the exception of Mr. Eliott, but the difference has not been sufficient to bring about any alterations in the order of the elected.' Some interest attached to the recount in view of the fact that when the figures for the first count were published Cr. W. Milverton us ninth on the poll was only eight votes ahead of Mr. Robert Edwards who was next in order for the, last seat on the council. Under these circumstances, the recount might possibly have altered the position but once again the wheel of fortune did not turn with Mr. Edwards, the official figures increasing Cr. Milverton s lead bj three votes. The following candidates lost votes in the recount the original figures credited to them being given in parent hoses: Messrs Manst’oru (2503), Fitzhcrbert (2646), Hodgens (2371), Clausen (1867), Low_ (1881), Tremaine (1681). Canton (1571), Tj* croft (1280), Allcrby (963) and Taylor The following increased their totals: Messrs Guv (1716), Edwards (1603), Andrew (1481). McLeod (1368) and Milverton (1613).
