Bickers at a meeting of the Palmerston North Dairy Farmers’ Union regarding the weighing of pigs, Mr. N. C. Harding, Town Clerk, Feilding, stated the position at tho Feilding municipal abattoir. Tho pigs, on being received at the abattoir, arc examined by the Government inspector and if the head is condemned, the pig is put on tho scales immediately and its weight ro corded. The condemned head is then removed, but payment is made on tho total weight, not the weight of the carcase minus the head. Mr. Harding said that the Borough Council authorised this statement to prevent any ni?t understanding arising out of the discussion at the Dairy Farmers' Union meeting.
