FEILDING MUNICIPAL BAND
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr. T. Collins reported to a meeting of the Feilding Municipal Band that, the band had done very well at the Wanganui competitions, especially in the quickstep contest iu which they were placed third. Iu the route march they had played exceedingly well. He regretted that through wdnt of knowledge the band had suffered a penalty. .Several Danncvirkc players had been included to make the band up to full strength and this action was found out too late, to be contrary to the rules governing the contest. The band was permitted to compete, but could not receive any prize-money. Therefore, although Feilding came third in the quickstep the prize money of £lO was withheld. He was sorry for the unfortunate position and had asked tho secretary of the committee to write to the Wanganui band contest committee asking whether there was any hope of the money being paid to the Feilding band. The members of the band had conducted themselves most creditably whilst iu Wanganui. Tho committee offered its congratulations to the band upon its performance and the hope was expressed that efforts would be made to persuade cxplayers to join up again and so make tho band a full strength one. Steps are also to be taken to arrange that the band give periodical performances in the town, Mr. Brabyn, the conductor, announcing that a programme would probably be arranged for Kowhai park on Easter Sunday afternoon.
