Wanganui Mans Death RUN OYER BY NEIGHBOUR’S CAR A well-known Wanganui resident, in tiio person of Mr. Thomas F. Philipson, met his death on Thursday evening, as a result of being run over by a motorcar driven by Mr. W. E. Wilson. The accident occurred on Durie Hill shortly after 7.30 p.m. It appears that Mr. Philipson was proceeding to town from his residence iu Maxwell Avenue, and in the vicin it.y of St. Barnabas Church, had occasion to cross the open roadway, when the car collided with him. Prompt action was taken by Mr. Wilson, to render all possible aid to the unfortunate man, and an ambulance was ordered, but on arrival at hospital it was found that the victim of tho accident had passed away, t The late Mr. Philipson, who was -10 years of age, was a highly esteemed employee of Levin and Company’s Wanganui branch, being prominently connected with tho wool department. At one time he was stationed at Feilding. Joining the firm in 1907, he proved himself a thorough aud conscientious officer, and for the past few seasons had acted as auctioneer for his firm at the Wanganui wool sales. Mr. Philipson was a popular figure in business circles in Wanganui. He was an enthusiastic horticulturist, and was also a prominent member of the Commercial Club. During the Great War he served with the Expeditionary Force and later held an important post in the Army Pay Office in London. The deceased leaves a widow and one child, to whom tho heart-felt sympathy of many friends will bo extend cd.
