CUBA STREET FESTIVAL

Tho Cuba Street Methodist schoolroom was an animated scene last evening, when the harvest festival and sale of first fruits took place, and competitions were the order of the evening. The ‘ 1 Pollyaima ’ ’ club sang several choruses during the evening with a Pollyanna spirit and received a splendid reception. ' / One of the humours of the evening was a bed making competition for men only, the audience was kept in roars of laughter during this competition, and it was quite evident that the competitors had never had any. practice in tho art of making a bed, ' ./ ■ Whilst girls may be adepts at making beds, they proved just as awkward in their endeavours to drive nails, and < strike them on the head in less than half a dozen attempts. | Quito a substantial sum will, go', to'wards the trust fund for Cuba Street j church, and tho many who worked so j hard, in the interests of the church, ■ must be well pleased with their efforts. Quoits, Rev. J. D. McArthur. -?v \ Bed-making, singly, Mr J. Perrin. Competition for ladies, putting gentleman’s collar and tie on, Miss Winton. Nail driving, Mrs Weston. Clothes hanging, competition for men, Mr Perrin. Judges for the various competitions were Mesdames McArthur, Collis, Budden and Fisher.
