TO-DAY'S RECIPE
CAKE WITH BREADCRUMBS.
Take 1 breakfastcupful powdered sugar, cUpfuls of ground filbert nuts, 14 cupfuls of grated breadcrumbs, 6 eggs, 1 teaspoonful cream of tartar, 14 teaspoonfuls carbonated soda, 1 tablespoonful lemou juice, 1 teaspoonful spice. Beat yolks and sugar for five minutes, whip whites with cream of tartar until stiff, add lemon Juice and yolks. Thin the whites; whip two minutes, then add other ingredients, and heat well. Bake in a tube loaf tin, cover with smooth icing made with juice of a lemon or orange; mixed with icing sugar, as it will take up. Decorate with halved walnuts.
