LINDBERGH CRASHES IN FLIGHT WITH FIANCEE

Colonel Lindberg crashed when returning to the Valbueno flying field to-day. The famous airman and his fiancee, Miss Anne Morrow, were returning from a flight over the neighbouring volcanic peaks. The aeroplano overturned, but neither suffered injury, except that Colonel Lindberg received a slightly-bruised wrist. He told the horror-stricken onlookers:

"I have nothing to say.” Colonel Lindberg then explained that he landed in an adjacent field, where he dropped one wheel as he took off. He then proceeded to Valbueno, whero the machine tipped over as lie was trying to land on one wheel. He added that it was not an accident; it was simply a "mishap.” Colonel Lindberg and Miss Morrow picked themselves up and went to as automobile, and departed for Mexico City. Colonel Lindberg was pale and worried, and his fianceo appeared very nervous, but neither wished to talk. A lator message states that Colonel Lindberg is reported to be in bed at tho American Embassy in Mexico City, suffering from "a slightly dislocated shoulder,” which had to be reset, in addition to an injured wrist. The physician found Miss Morrow to bo suffering only from sovero shock. The plane was not badly damaged. Witnesses state that . a fatal disaster was prevented by Lindberg’s skilful attempt to make a slow landing.
