Mr Everett Brown, President of the Chicago Live Stock Exchange, estimated that there has been a shrinkage of 1,375,000,000 dollars in tho value of live stock in the United States in the last six months. Diet propaganda was destroying tho meat business, and prices for beef cattlo had dropped about four dollars per 100 pounds-. He stated that the demand for beef had been so curtailed that consumption in Borne sections was 25 per cent under normal. Some experts assert the markets are clogged with beef, which cannot bo sold. Mr Brown also pointed o t that there was a great chango in public diet in progress, in which meat was cut to a point 45 per cent less than ten years ago.
