STOCK EXCHANGE SHOWS MORE LIFE

GILT-EDGED STRONGER. United Press Association —By Electri* Telegraph—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 23. Tho Stock Exchange is gradually recovering from tho shock follOYving the increase in the bank rate and dearer money. So far, however, the improvement is practically confined to gilt edges, though rubbers havo been fairly active and oven strong, as the result of the price of tho raw commodity passing the shilling level. The lower prices to which gilt edges fell, had the effect of producing a fair amount of investment buying and as monetary conditions appear to bo taking a more favourablo turn, there is hope that tho improvement will be maintained.

Australia’s Tecent loan which fell to discount, has recovered, the present quotation being about one-sixteenth premium. '
