The fire brigade was called out about 6.30 pan. last evening in response to a call from the alarm box on the corner of Featherston and Eangitikei streets. A car driven by Mr. Don M‘ Dougall had caught fire owing to friction from the brake-bands, and some attention from the fire-fighters was necessary before the incipient outbreak was extinguished. The driver acted promptly in throwing a dust coat over the flames, a move which kept them in check until the engine arrived.
