HUNT AND WHIPPET CLUBS COMBINE

Excellent Meeting Held at Te Matai LARGE ATTENDANCE RECORDED Favoured by excellent conditions the Manawatu Hunt Club and Manawatu Whippet Racing Club conjointly ran a most successful meeting yesterday at To Matai on tho property of Mr. T. Roulston and the late S. R. Lancaster’s estate kindly lent for tho purpose. The course for the steeplechase events was in perfect order the ground being in an ideal statcs for racing. JS T o serious mishaps marred the enjoyable afternoon’s sport. The track for the whippet races, some two hundred yards long, had been carefully prepared and was in excellent condition. Events were run with a dispatch which showed the greatest of harmony between the kindred sporting bodies. That both branches of sports were popular was manifest by tile large attendance, estimated at being well over the twelve hundred mark. The ideal weather conditions put the finishing touch to a splendid afternoon’s enjoynfent, tho many patrons generally ■ expressing their appreciation of the* excellent sport provided.
