TERRACE END SCHOOL

* SALE OF WORK. All those interested in. the Terrace End School should give their hearty support to the sale of work which is being held at the school to-morrow afternoon from 1.30 to 6 p.m. Already a great deal has been done by the committee, assisted by the residents of the school district, in improving the, grounds, thereby not only beautifying them but also rendering them fit for the use of the scholars. It must be remembered that this important work is not carried out by the Education Department, and the necessary funds must bo faised by the school committee. The work is being advanced a further stage at the present time, and men (are engaged in laying down paths and spaces for lawn and garden in accordance with an excellent comprehensive plan. When the work is completed ,tho school will possess recreation grounds and gardens of which any similar institution might be proud. v Tho Sale of Work has been organised to provide funds for the work, and therefore merits a large measure of public patronage. A strong ladies’ committee has been busy for some weeks past -in preparing for tho function, and tho stalls will be stocked with a wide range of useful articles, as well as with cakes ancf other produce which should be eagerly purchased. Adequate arrangements arc being made for the serving of afternoon tea, and among the stalls arc those for sweets, plain and fancy needlework; cakes,, "flowers and produce. The young folk will no doubt give the bran tub their attention, and an Aunt Sally will also provide amusement. A playlet “Tho Advertisement” will be produced during the afternoon. In connection with the function, the school girls arc having a competition for tjic most useful article made from a sugar sack, and the boys originating from a benzine tin. The latter competition is to be judged by Mr. J. H. Coker. It is to bo hoped that the school buildings will bq crowded to-morrow afternoon, and that there’ will be a liberal response to the committee’s appeal.
