W.E.A.
The course of lectures and discussions being conducted by the AV.E.A. in*St. Andrew's Memorial Hall on Tuesday evenings on “Economic Problems of New Zealand-” is proving of considerable interest The subject matter of Mr. K. Boss’s address this evening will bo “Aro Distributing Costs in New Zealand too high” and it is anticipated that a keen discussion will result. The position has been reached in New Zealand where it costs more to sell commodities than it does to actually produce them. The problem to be faced is a serious one. The lecturer will deal with the relative values and importance of retail and wholesale distributing enterprises, including their related enterprises of shipping and other'forms of transport, insurance, commerce and indent agencies, and the possible extension of co-operative enterprise in production, marketing and distributing. It is generally considered that the W.E.A. is performing a very valuable function in placing the services of qualified men at. the disposal of those citizens who arc interested in considering the various problems which arise in the administration of any community’s affairs. In any democratic state it is the duty of every citizen to thoughtfully consider the problems which arise for solution and to endeavour to understand the history and the causes of those problems. The lectures on, “Economic Problems of New Zealand” are of particular value in this connection, and the public is earnestly invited to attend the lecture this evening.
