HIGH PRICES FOR GRADE COWS
TOP, PKIOE £36/10/-. "Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. report: We held a very successful clearing sale on. behalf of Mr. C. Jones, Troup road, Thursday, the 19th inst., when we offered his well known herd of high grade Jerseys to a, large and representative attendance of buyers. Keen - competition prevailed throughout, and the success of the sale may be gauged from the fact that the total offering of grade cows, including one or two late ealvers and heifers, averaged the highly satisfactory figure of £2l/15/-, and the top price grade cow made £36/10/- . Mr, Jones brought out the cattle in perfect condition, and this undoubtedly had a very favourable effect on the sale, and, of course, the herd was backed up with excellent butterfat figures. The two pedigree cows, Lynford Ncstcr and Toot Sweet, attracted a good deal of attention, the former making 50 gns. and tho later 40 gns. The herd sire made 30 gns. Tho majority of the high price grades were purchased by a Manawatu buyer, and a good many were also bought by Pahiatua buyers. Sundries, implements, etc., also sold well, and taking everything into consideration, we think this one of the best, sales ever held-in the Woodvillo district.
