Tokorangi

HOCKEY BALL. From Our Own Correspondent. A fair crowd. attend the Tokorangi hockey ball on Friday evening, a good number of fancy costumes being in evidence. The music, by Packers’ Orchestra was all that could be desired, Mr. P. Sambo acting as M.C. The grand march took place shortly after 10 p.m. giving the judges a good opportunity to view the many pleasing costumes. Hcsdames Craven and Faulding judged the ladies while Messrs. Faulding and Davies undertook thle task of judging the men’s, -an easy task, as the number of men in fancy dress was not lafge. Mrs. Harvey, jni-., of Halcombe was awarded first prize for the ladies and Mr, A. Harvey, also of Halcombe, first for the men’s.- Both wore gypsy costumes. Mr. W. B. Faulding on behalf of the hockey, club presented the prizes to the winners. . Between 11 and 12 a sumptuous and plentiful sit down supper was partaken of, tho supper room being prettily .decorated with streamers and greenery, vases of flowers -setting off the table. Mr. T. F. Iwikau, in the absence of tbo President, (Mr. M. Tetomo) thanked all for their attendance, also the judges of fancy costumes and the Orchestra. .

A spot waltz was won by Miss Downs and Mr. Whetu.

Managh, pieretto; Mrs. Harvey, gypsy; Mrs. E. Williams, goodnight; Mrs. Brown, goodnight; Miss J. Ferguson, Lieutenant; Miss M. Iwikau, hawaiian; Mrs. Short, Queen of the Harem. Others present were; Mrs. Zwcibruck black lace frock; Mrs. L. Davies, periwinkle blue erepe-do-chene, with silver lace; Mrs. H. H. Davies, grey silk with red roses;' Mrs. Faulding, black, satin relieved with silver lace; Mrs. Hartley, black silk; Miss Craven, green velvet relieved with lace; Mrs. E. Managh, powder blue crcpe-de-chene, and gold lace; Miss E. Williams, black and silver; Miss Eight (Beilding), black crepe-dc-chene; Miss R. Hight, pink erepe-de-chcne; Miss M. Anderson, : apricot rayon; Miss I. Blunder, cream silk moracaih, trimmed with lace; Miss Short, mauve moracarn; Miss N. Green, scarlet crepe-db-chene, Vith gold lace; Miss E. Gothy, black crepe-de-ohenc; Miss K. Corbett, cream rayon; Miss Alien, black crepc-de-chenc; Miss E. Corbett, pink silk; Miss D. Paurini, yellow velvet; Miss Goodwin, .black crepc-de-chene; Miss M. Zweibruck, crimson satin, with flounce of gold lace; • Miss N. Gooding, black satin, pink beaded, medallion at side. Owing: to an epidemic, of influenza at Tokorangi, the local school has been closed for a short period.
