/ ; FOOTBALL. ■ ■;•?.; From Our Own Correspondent. • At 10.30 a.m. on Saturday the school boys played Kimbolton and 'were defeated by 6 points to nil. After the game the girls entertained the boys at tea in the hall. , i . v. The Juniors played Kiwitea, winning by 11 points to 5. The Kiwitea team was very lit and iplayed a good game, and Waituna had a hard light to win. The Senior match between Apiti and Waituna was won by Waituna 14—5. This result places .these two teams equal in the Beard Cup "contest and a final game will have to. be played, - Ball. ' * The Grand Ball held on- Thursday night was an undoubted success, but, owing to counter attractions the attendance was not so largo as the promoters could have wished. The hall presented a pleasing appearance, being decorated with trails of ivy and artificial flowers, while crepe paper curtains in a pretty use shade covered the windows. No praise is too great for the ladies who prepared and served the dainty, savoury supper, which was a. perfect triumph of the culinary art.' 'The tables were decorated with small leaves which had all heen painted silver and gold, and the effect was most charming. Bradley’s Gaiety Orchestra supplied excellent music and responded to repeated encores. Personal. , ; v ; Mrs T. Mayhow’s many friends will be pleased to hear that she is making a good recovery from her recent operation for appendicitis, and expects to return to her home this week. Mrs. J. H. Williamson has received a cable from her husband announcing his safe arrival in the Argentine.
