Hokowhitu 3. West End 0. 1 Considering that the great .Majority of the boys were under twelve, years of age, the display of football in the senior B match, Hokowhitu v.. West End yesterday, was very good indeed. Both sides showed the result of very careful training, Hokowhitu . having superior combination in tho backs, while West End predominated in the forwards. • V- , : y'y--y ; Play of a good even standard characterised the first spell during which neither side could score. Half way through the second half, Brian Andrew intercepted a pass near West End’s goal and went over to score the winning try. Phil .Smith found the angle to great. 3—o. West End tried hard to equalise, but the luck was against them, and a very good exposition of football ended in Hokowhitu’s favour. Mr. L. G. Berry was the. referee. For West,.End, , Downing, Harden and Shaw were tho best' backs, and Cheek and Page the pick of the forwards. Hokowhitu ; s star back was Sid Ladyman, who was ably supported by Dalziell and Phil Smith. . Quigan, Jones and Olliver were the pick of the forwards. Hokowhitu and West End are now level at the head of the senior B competition and have each two more; games to play. Should each school win* both these games, a play off will be necessary .to decide tho issue.
