I * The fancy dress dance held on Friday night in aid of ; the Hockey Club was j a huge success, visitors being present from Hinton, Shannon, and Palmerston North, The competition winners were; Best fancy costume, ladies, Miss N. Batchelar, Spanish Dancer; gent's Mr A. Mpodic, Cowboy; Lucky Spot Waltz, Miss Adams and Mr A. Webb; Monte Carlo Waltz, Miss Adams and Mr H. Moodie. ■ Among those present were Mesdamcs Bell, (pierette), Atkinson (pierrot), F. Guide (trump hand), Misses K. Williams (Dutch girl), J. Breo (Hawiian maid), D. Webb (pierette)), J. Stokes (drummer boy), M. Webb (Militaire), G. Kelly (black hand), C. Lampard (tea for two), G. Webb (balloon girl), I, M'Laggaa (Eastern lady), B. Mackenzie (pierette), A. Clarke (Yankee sailor); Messrs A. Webb (morning after,, the night before),- S. Burns and V. Began (modern women), S. Prontice (To,komaru Hockey Girl), H. Bateman (Charlie Chaplin), T. Mills, (minister)., . The music for the dance was supplied by Misses D. Webb, J. Brec and K, Williams (piano), and Mr E. Farrant, (violin). Extras were supplied by Mrs. Vaughan and Mr J. Prentice. Mr H. C, Stokes efficiently carried out the duties f o£ M.C. Personal. Mr and Mrs. E. Vaughan spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs. Morgan. ■ Mr Mervyn Parr is spending a short holiday with his parents. , Mr A. Burt returned from Christchurch on Friday and is the guest of Mrs. W. H. Webb.*Mrs. F. Wells, “Desmond Dene," and her sister, Mrs. E. Alvcj “Linthorp,” Bangiotu, were visitors to Wellington during race week. On Saturday afternoon a football match was played between Linton School and Tokomaru, resulting in a victory for the former by S—nil.
