The past month of Juno saw live petitions in bankruptcy flle‘d at the Supreme Court, Palmerston North, as against seven for Juno, 1927, The half-yearly bankruptcy figures' for Palmerston North find '26 petitions filed, as compared . with SO for_ the corresponding period of last year. Vital Statistics. dtt. . The vital statistics for the past month arc as follows, the figures; for the corresponding period of last year being given in parentheses: Births;, 52, deaths, IS, (16); riiarriages, 30, (25); marriages by Registrar, 4, (6). Building Figures. The total value of building permits issued by the Borough Council during June was £21,697, as against £7,460 for June, 1927. The chief item in this marked increase is the £5141 building at present being erected in the Square for the Friendly Societies Dispensary. Board. A total of £12,310 is being expended in the erection -of now residences, while alterations and. additions to existing premises are estimated to cost £1753. Permits for the erection of five motor sheds have been issued, the estimated, cost of same being £205.
