MAKING ROAD SCHOOL
SUCCESSFUL CONCEET. # The pupils .of the Makino Eoad School gave a very successful concert on Wednesday night last in aid of the school funds. There was a good attendance of parents and friends and encores were the order of the evening. The programme which was a fairly lengthy one 'was comprised of the following items:—Chorus, “Harvest Home”, by seniors; chorus, “Bowing Song” by juniors; recitation “Tale of a Fairy” by Joyce Fraser; song, “Love’s Kingdom,” by Evelyn Laing; choruses “Bailiff’s Daughter” by seniors; “Christmas Eve” by juniors; dance, “Harvesters” by four seniors; song, “Nest Hunters” by Hariata Hynes; chorus, “The Dead Horse” by senior boys; recitation, “Wishes” by lan Simpson; choruses, „ “Murray Moon” by seniors; “Brave Fishermen” by juniors; song “Drink to Me Only” by Dorothy Anderson and Violet Green; chorus, “Now is the Month of Maying” by Standards 3 and 4 girls; recitation, “Very Nearly” by Doris Laing; chorus, “The Mermaid” by seniors; dialogue, “The Socialists” by Ken -Green and H. Hynes; chorus “Cinderella” by juniors; chorus, “Lullaby Land” by Standards 5 and 0 girls; drill by senior boys; recitation “Song Against Company” by Eog Hills; choruses, “Spring Song” by seniors; “Monday is our Washing Day” by juniors; recitation, “Teddy Bear” by Ida Amor; chorus, “Fair Shines the Moon” by seniors; song, “The Poor Chinee” by Ashley Garnett; chorus, “Evergreens” by juniors; round “Five Bolls of Osenly” by seniors; recitation, “Tho Lucky Ducks” by Hariata Hynes; chorus, “When Daisies-Wild” by senior girls; dialogue, “Trials of a Schoolmistress” by Thelma Vincent and Gordon Gavc'gan; chorus “Goodnight” by seniors.
