PASSING MOTOR CAR
KNOCKS PEDESTRIAN DOWN POLICE INVESTIGATING. A middle-aged man named Matthews," who is understood to be a share milker residing at Cheltenham, was knocked down by a Ford motor car on Thursday night. Matthews was picked up, when found lying in a semi-conscious condition, by Mr. J. Foster who communicated with the police. Dr. Phillips examined the man and ordered his removal to the Palmerston North Hospital. He was suffering from superficial wounds, bruises and slight injury to his back.
Mr. Matthews said that he was dazzled by the bright headlights of the car as ho stepped from the footpath and almost immediately was knocked down. The car which ho recognised as a Ford, did not stop. The police are making enquiries.
