Mr. Bert Page is at present in Palmerston North making arrangements for the return visit of the Cherniavsky trio on March 2nd. A cable message from Sydney states that a passenger by the Otranto, which has arrived at Sydney, is Sir Lindo Ferguson, who is returning to New .Zealand. Mr. J. T. M. Brewster, engineer to the Waimea County Council, has been appointed engineer to tho Horowhenua County Council out of 41 applicants for the position. Mr. J. J. Gibson, accountant in the Public Works Department, has been appointed a member of the Main Highways Board in succession to the late Mr. P. S, Waldie
When walking along the road at Colyton yesterday toiorning, Mrs. Q-. Ashworth, aged 76 years, had the misfortune to fracture her ankle. Tlk sufferer was admitted to the Palmerston North Hspital. At the meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday, Sir James Wilson took the opportunity of making a small presentation to the Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, who came up yesterday to confer with the Board on hospital matters. In making the presentation, Sir James apologised for the omission at the laying of the foundation stone to the Hospital a few weeks ago. He expressed the great pleasure of all at seeing the Minister with them again, and asked him to accept a suitably engraved silver trowel as a pleasant memento of that occasion. In his reply Mr Young thanked the members for their gift expressing his pleasure at seeing the good progress made at the Maternity Hospital since the occasion of his last visit to Palmerston North.
