At the evening service there was a large congregation present, also choirs from the neighbouring parishes of Bulls, Marton, Foxton, Palmerston North (All Saints’) and Terraco End (St. Peter’s). The full choir, under Choirmaster A. J. Geary, of Fellding, numbered approximately 100. The anthem, “The Sun Shall be No More,” was rendered in beautiful harmony and Dyke’s “The Dcum” was sung splendidly. Mr. A. E. Golding was at the organ. Assisting at the service were the Rev. Lessons were read by the Revs. Ashcroft and Abbott, and Rev. Moir (preacher) delivered a fine sermon, taking for his subject “The practical side of religion.” The offertory amounted to* £54. At the conclusion of the service at St. John’s the choir and congregation adjourned to the Parish Hall, partaking of a bounteous supper provided by parishioners and supervised by an energetic church committee. The occasion was taken by Mr. Geary of thanking the visiting choirs for their attendance and the splendid assistance given to St. John’s choir. He hoped in the near future the visit would bo reciprocated by Foilding members. The Rev. Canon F. H Petrie (vicar) also took the opportunity of extending ihe church’s best thanks to the visiting clergy.
