WELLINGTON WOOL SALE EQUALS SOUTHERN RECORDS

Keenest Competition and All Advance District Clips Reach High Figures (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The fourth Welllington wool sale of the season opened tonight. The catalogue comprises 27,134 hales, of which 10,134 were sold to-night. From the Loginning there was the keenest competition, a great deal coming from the Continent, while ■ Bradfield and America kept the first-named up to their limits. Fine wools were in particularly good demand and prices occasionally two-pence higher than here last month, There was certain amount of irregularity, but all w’ools felt the influence of the demand and lower grades were a penny, and sometimes more dearer. A feature of the sale was the keen demand from France for lambs’ wool and skirtings.

ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS, LTD. (“ Times ” Special.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Japan was a strong competitor for the best class of hogget wool. As compared with last Wellington salo held on 11th January, the market for ordinary Merino was on a par. Ordinary crossbred were up Id to 2d per lb. Fine crossbred and halfbred showed an advance of 2d to 3d. Official range of prices will bo given later.
