Covcnt Garden marketers 'ara wondering why New Zealand’s first fruit arrivals are unprecedentedly ten days ahead ot Australians.
It is stated that this is due not only to the lateness of the Australian season but to tho fact that New Zealand Fruit Board arranged that the first consignment ba sent by mail-boat, thus affording the growers a definite date for picking and speedy shipment Dealers are marvelling at tho phenomenal price of New Zealand Coxes at private sales. West End dealers doubt whether 40a; and 60a . per case will again ba realised..- This price is due to tho eagerness of wealthy people to obtain fresh apples, they being tired of stale Americans from storage.
