ARMED ROBBER THWARTED
BRAVERY OF TWO GIRLS. , An attempted hold-up at a branch post office at Plymouth' 1 was frustrated by the bravery of two young women clerks. Two men walked into the office, and while one went to the v telegram stall, where telegrams are written out, the other attempted to fasten the door. When asked what the man at the door was doing, his companion, who had been pretending*'to write ■a telegram, pulled out a revolver and : shouted “Hands up ! ” ■ • . But the two girl ; clerks were undismayed. Picking up a date stamp, one of them, Miss Curie, hurled it at the man’s head, then rushed to the’ window and knocked on It to attract attention.. The other girl/ Miss Rosamund Spry, telephoned to the: police. Seeing the tables turned upon them the men rushed away without taking anything. The girls were able to give the police a detailed description of them both.
