FISHING LAUNCH WRECKED
CREW OF FOUR LANDS SAFELY. LONG TREK FROM NORTH CAPE. [Per Press Association.! AUCKLAND. Last Night. lA message from Te Hapua states that the launch Tora struck a submerged floating object about two miles off North Cape at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and was badly damaged. She was run ashore at Nudus Nook and broken up by the sniff. The crew got safely ashore. They were Ernest Nell (master), John Buchan (leading hand), E. Thomas (seaman) and WBuchan (cook). The engine was salvaged the following day, and the four men left for Te Hapua. All their personal effects were lost, and they will make the voyage from the north 1 as shipwrecked marines. They had to. walk 20 miles from the wrecx for succour. Arrangements have been made to have them brought to Auckland by the Northern Company’s steamer Ngatlawa, which leaves Auckland next Monday and will take them aboard at Parc.ngarenga on Thursday, The Tora Is an oil launch of 2J tons, and licensed as a fishing vessel. She is owned by Messrs Thomas, Nell and Co., of Newton road. Her principal dimensions are length 32 feet, breadth 9ft 6iii.. draught 2ft 6in. ■ ':
