An echo of the defeat of the Government in the / Legislative Council over the Electoral Bill came at a meeting of the Labour Party, when it was decided that in view of the vital importance to tho Labour movement of passing Government legislation and as the planks of the Labour platform piust come before every other consideration,, the party will not recognise any pairs given In the Legislative Council and instructs any member who has granted pairs to discontinue it at once. This means the repudiation of an honourable political arrangement with the Nationalists, but the motion was carried with only one dissentient.
