£loo CHALLENGE.
[To the Editor.] Sir, —Clearly this matter cannot be allowed to rest where the committee has left it. I therefore propose to appeal' to a “higher court,” which must consist of judges who arc specially qualified to consider the subject-matter of the dispute. I have not yet approached them; but I suggest that, if they are Willing to act, the Chief Justice and the four professors of history in our University Colleges, shall constitute the ’’Court of Appeal.” Will Mr. Lynch and the members of the local committee agree to become parties to this appeal? Otherwise I 'shall have to nominate somebody else to approach these gentlemen whom I have mentioned, and lay the matter before them. Of course, this need not' prevent meantime the publication of the statements and evidence given at the local hearing. I again ask the local committee to raise its ban on the publication of this evidence. It must surely be recognised that the committee’s public criticism of the evidence I produced, without that evidence itself being before the public, is grossly unfair both to the public and to me personally. I shall be perfectly satisfied to sec my evidence and the committee's finding published side by side. I am, etc., A. ERNEST MANDEB.
