CHARGE OF THEFT. A dark, clean-shaven young man of 23 years, named Wilford Muir Ward, hotel porter, of Palmerston North, was on Saturday arraigned before Mr. W. G, Ashworth, J.P., charged that on or about Juno 5, at Wellington he did steal one pair of ear-rings, two gold bracelets and four packs of playing cards, to the value of £7 10/-, the property of Alfred Quinell. On the application of Detective-Ser-geant Quirke, accused was remanded to appear at Wellington on Wednesday next. Bail was not asked for.
