MOST SUCCESSFUL SEASON SATURDAY’S COMPETITIONS Saturday brought to a close the most successful Winter Show of the A. and P. Much interest centred about the two intcr-school Rugby matches in the afternoon, while the pony leaping competition was another popular 'attraction. The consolation event resulted:— Phyllis Davison’s (Kairanga) Abe 1, Muriel Anderson’s (Aokautere) Pearl 2, G. H. James’s (Dannevirke) Nigger 3, Laura Meade's (Palmerston North) Prudence 4. Tug-Of-War. Five teams entered for the tug-of-war competition, and an interesting contest resulted. The Borough Electrical Department met Shannon and succumbed, while the Cafe do Paris men rose triumphant over the Power Board, following this by defeating the Borough Council. As a result, Shannon pulled with the Cafe in the final bout. A. dead heat resulted, but in the second try, Shannon won after an exciting go. No weight-judging competition was hold on Saturday. Between the two football matches, the president of the Association (Mr J. H. Perrott) took the opportunity of presenting the handsome Collinson and Cunninghame Cup for tho Hunters’ competition, to the winner (Mr J. Shaw). In so doing, Mr Perrett said Mr Shaw well deserved the. honour for ho was a good sport and an ardent supporter of hunting. He had won the cup outright, and this was the sixteenth trophy he had won in his career as a huntsman —d truly wonderful record.
