QUIET HOLIDAY EXPECTED.

Labour Day celebrations in Palmer ston North will be confined mainly to private picnic excursions and weekend trips. .Providing the weather is fine, the Foxton beach will, no doubt, be well patronised, while other pleasure spots will claim a few. In town, bowling and tennis tournaments will be held, as well as a cricket match at the Sportsground between the Y.M.C.A. team and an eleven from Hastings, The members of the New Zealand Field Ambulance No. 1 Company, are holding their annual reunion over the week-end and a large number of visitors are staying- in town. , Yesterday they were conducted on a pleasant motor trip to the various places of interest. Some return home to-day, while others intend spending the holiday here.
